Philanthropy

The Alpha Phi Foundation is the proud philanthropic partner of Alpha Phi International Fraternity, with a mission of “advancing women’s lives through the power of philanthropy”. Alpha Phi officially adopted Women’s Heart Health as a priority in 1946, which became the Foundation’s philanthropic priority upon its founding in 1956. Today, the foundation proudly invests in leadership, scholarship and emergency aid for its members, as well as programs and research that study heart disease in women – specifically its symptoms, treatment and prevention through its annual Heart to Heart Grant.

Philanthropy Events and Community Service

Red Dress Gala

Alpha Phi Red Dress Gala is our largest annual philanthropy event. For a fun evening with parents, alumnae, faculty, staff, sisters, and friends, we dress to the nines in our red ensembles for a meal, dancing, cardiac health presentation, silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle. Our event was extremely successful and we raised over $4,000 for the Alpha Phi Foundation, benefiting women's cardiac care!

Alpha Phifa

Alpha Phifa is an annual soccer tournament that brings out groups from all over campus including other sororities, fraternities, club sports, and friends! This is one of our favorite events to host each year - we love seeing Rensselaer coming together for a great cause. RPI Alpha Phifa includes food, games, phun, and some slight competition, all in the name of Heart Health.

Heart Health Week

Our annual Heart Health Week is held during American Heart Health month: February! Several tabling events take place throughout the week, where we are able to raise money for our philanthropy. Additionally, these tabling events serve as a way for Alpha Phi to educate those on campus and raise awareness for Women’s Heart Health.

Community Service

Members of RPI Alpha Phi donate time to community service opportunities in Troy and the capital region. Members are encouraged to follow their passions by helping out charitable organizations that align with their interests. Whether it be volunteering with the Community Food Drive or lending a helping hand cleaning local parks, the sisters of Alpha Phi support those in need and give back to the community.

While Alpha Phis are involved in the local community, we are also dedicated to service on campus. Our chapter not only supports other Greek organizations' philanthropic initiatives, but also takes part in service with other organizations on campus, including an national service fraternity and collegiate extension of Relay for Life. Each semester, you will find Phis volunteering at a variety of organizations and giving back in a number of ways. No matter which organization we are supporting, Alpha Phis are always there to lend a helping hand!
